THE PHOENIX RISES
(On the eve of my fiftieth birthday – 26th July 2001)
Standing on tomorrow's threshold
I view the pages of my yesterdays,
I remember how over the ashes of time rolled
I rose phoenix like...
Regrets are not for me, nor disappointments,
Nor remorse, nor pain, for I am the phoenix,
Over the embers of a crushed life
I rose wings outstretched to fly --
Yes, I am the phoenix,
Death holds no nightmares, separation no pain,
For I have no regrets, no desires,
I have fought and won.
Standing today on tomorrow's threshold
I am the phoenix, I am time,
I am joy, I am mother earth,
It's time to celebrate life,
From ashes to embers, embers to flame,
Flame, phoenix, life, me...
One and the same,
Beginning without end, eternity..

A beautiful poem Shobha!
It’s perfect.
Your eloquent words not only exude respect for life and for others, but also (often times what is forgotten) - ‘esteem’! ‘Majestic’ poetry worthy to be re-read time and again as it is food for the soul!
